About the Event

What shapes our identities? Artists Kara Walker and Moses Williams used simple outlines to create individual portraits that captured the personality, emotions, and experiences of their subjects. In this program, students will explore their own identities as they learn about how African American identity has been represented in art and culture. Hands-on activities will allow students to explore the techniques and materials used to make silhouettes.

This event is designed for High School aged students. It is free and open to the public.

Reservations are required for these programs. To reserve your space, please email Allison Neslund at neslunda@dickinson.edu.
